--or the spec for the module
The PTH08D110 is a part on the 'EightChBuck-DCDC-SCH.pdf' from sprc678 (In the BOM for the TMDSDCDC8KIT, it's listed as 'TI to provide'). But I don't know what's inside. And google and the TI site don't recognize the part number. My questions are,
a) How is the current measured, can it measure negative? Is it across the highside or from the lowside fet?
b) What happens when the Inhibit is driven low.
c) What is SRE?
I would like to use this dev kit to drive a three phase sensorless motor. To do so I need to allow one phase to float, ie both highside and lowside fett need to be off, so that I can read the voltage generated by that winding. Thus, I think I need to wire the Inhibt to a GPIO, assuming that I won't blow anything up.
I think I found My answer....the part number in the schematic is wrong it's actually a PTD08A010W.
Yes, the part number is PTD08A010W. This is a 10A power train module that uses a UCD7230 as a driver. This driver has an integrated current sense amplifier.
a) This module uses the DCR of the inductor to measure current. The UCD7230 has a gain of ~48X. It also applies a 0.6V bias to the current mesurment so that it can measure negative current.
b) The inhibit input when driven low will turn off the output and will cancel the PWM and SRE input operation to the UCD7230.
c) SRE is the Synchronous Rectifier Enable pin. When this logic input is high, then the synchronous FET is operational allowing the module to both sink and source current. When this input is low then the module can only supply current.
This module is intended to be used with either a member of the UCD911X or UCD92XX family of digital controllers.
Let me know if you need more information.
I'm not sure what happend to my other reply but it appears to have not posted.
What I need is a similar pin out to the PTD08A010W (Temp, Current, PWM in, etc) but with an input range of about 40 to 42 Volts, with an output of 5 to 38 Volts....or simply a 0 to 28V output with current monitoring extending 5 volts on either side of the rails.
If the module does not exist (the PTN04050C is getting closer, voltage and current wise, but futher away function wise), is there a chip similar to the UCD7230 that has a wider common mode voltage for current sense?
(need around 8k to 10k units)
Mr. Elden Crom:
I reviewed you request for an hihg voltage PTD08A010 with UCD7230. Thr e are no plans to develop a module with thsi capability.
However, I have attached a link to a power solution, using the TPS54160 IC.1.5A wide input voltage (60V to lower voltages to 58V output voltage

Dear Tom,
In my project ,power stage is controled by UCD7230. vin =15volt,double phase vout,FS=1MHZ,L=0.5uH,C=470uf*5+47uf*10,I want to get a adjustable Vout of 0 to 12volt. in the course of regulating, ofen burn down the low side MOSFET,ucd7230 is hot too, it will be better when configure single phase.Could you share the reference circuit of ucd7230 and reference configure with me,Could you share me the PTH08D110 SCH? thanks !
Mr. Changling WU :
I receved this e-mail concerning the PTD08A010 .There are many concerns about this high frequency operation an voltage range. The UCD 7230 is limited 0.7V to 3.6V Vout .THePTD serise limited to 0.7V to 3.6V Vout. See teh prodcut UCD 7230 wEB site for details.
This includes the minimum maximum Vout data and http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/ucd7230.html pages under propagation delay and maximum Vin to Vout .
I can not find any information that ucd7230 can not support 12volt vout in spec. in our project ,the power stage that engaged in ucd7230 can already support 12volt vout ,but the configure is single phase , As i want get more current output (about 50A),so i need double phase configure ,but it is not stable sometime can not get any vout, MOSFET was often burned down ,by the way ,ucd9240 is unable to sense correctly current of powr stage, what configuration does the ucd9240 need? do you have any suggestion for me? thank you!
Thansk for the-mail.
The UCD specification on page 5 under maximum Vin of 15V has the analog or Vout limited 0.7V to 3.6V. It cannot accept vout of greater than 3.6V Vout.
