Hi, I'm new to OMAP.

We want to apply DVFS on video decoding, under DVSDK 2.0. We also installed OMAP35x-PSP-SDK-setuplinux-02.01.02.09.bin. The linux kernel is 2.6.29. I'm sure that I compiled everything required for cpufreq when rebuilding the kernel, but when I boot up, I cannot find the file "vdd1_opp_value" under /sys/power/, even when I changed the governer to "ondemand" option under /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/. I was wondering if this dvsdk or kernel does support OPP change (not so sure if it's the kernel issue or dvsdk).

Can anyone tell me how to enable OPP change or what version of DVSDK and kernel support this feather? How to get them?

Thanks!

I also just noticed the /proc/omap_clocks is missing, in this version of the DVSDK?

Has this issue been resolved?

Hi msj,

I've found the DVFS function is not fully supported after DVSDK 3_00_00_29, that would result in missing some critical files.

You can try DVSDK 3_00_00_29 which I'm using now, or the newest 2.6.32rc5 kernel from git

Hello Xi,

Thanks for your reply.  I can not move backward to the DVSDK 3_00_00_29 version, as I do need to use some of the features that were fixed in the newer version, like the McSPI driver.

Have you tried the newer kernel, and the opp is again working in the newer version?

I believe it is working, but you need to re-configure the kernel to add certain function, you can take the TI's UserGuide for reference.

We didn't use the newest kernel because these some compatibility problem with TI's video demo.

PS: I have opened another thread regarding NAND Flash File System boot up problem, do you have any experience on that? Thanks.

thanks Xi,

I'll review the user guide.  But you don't know the particular kernel configuration that was needed, do you?

I'm not sure about the particular kernel configuration, but so far as I tried, seems I made it works.

You can take a look at 12.4 - configuration of UserGuide-02.xx.xx.xx.pdf

After you turned on 'CPU Frequency scaling', you could see some familiar options come out.

The UserGuide does not have comprehensive direction about configuration, but the options afford in kernel configuration is quite readable, so if you're not sure, just build & have a try.

And make sure you enable the userspace governor .

Good luck,

Xi
