I am using the TPS5430 to convert 24VDC to 3.6V. I have had two of the convertors fails, where they can
supply a light current load but when loaded up (say 1A) they become quite hot and the thermal protection
circuitry begins to cycle the part off and then back on. What might we be doing to this part that could cause
this? I have seen two of these in the last week.
Thanks.
Hoe are you connecting the thermal pad? Do you have adequate vias and copper ground area? Can you providde teh layout and schematic?

John,
Thanks for the come back. We traced this problem to an undersized inductor. Turns out the inductance of the part actually
shifted when stressed resulting in a diminished (reduced) output level.
