Good day. I thought that when I ran the executable to install the updated driver, that the driver would automatically be changed. I had not looked at the device manger to see if it had actually been done. It turns out that the driver did not get updaetd. So, my comments that the situation was improved were misleading.

I did go ahead and update the driver through the device manager and had it point to the new driver files (XP32) for the TUSB. The driver did get updated with his method and now shows at 6.5 etc. However, now our VB app no longer communicates with the TUSB 3410. We have a function, 'obg.open' that opens the port and tries to communicate with the device. This is not behaving as it once did. I tried to comment out the obj.open and have it just send a command to the TUSB but this produced the same result.

I noted it looks like the driver has been updated, but when we try to download it, the file cannot come over because of some Microsoft security feature. Anyway, I'll try to download it at home and try the new driver. Any other thoguhts would be greatly appreciated.

TUSB3410 GPIO pin frequency

Some of the GPIO pins on the TUSB3410 have a frequency on them.
I am kind of new to the electronic hardware design. My project is to implement analog data acquisition via USB interface of the PC. The signal I have is a pulse (temporal width varies from us to ms) and the repetition rate is around 6Hz.

I looked around the website and found there are few kinds of USB IC available.

What I have in mind is: (12 bit) A/D converter + USB transceiver + PC

Is this gonna work? Or could you suggest me a better solution?
I am working on a School Class Project and try to build up an 1.1 USB Hub with the IC TUSB2046.

I used the reference design for a Self Powered Hub from TI (Available on Product Site of TUSB2046) without the EEPROM and design my own Schematic (Attachment).

So I tied RESET and EXTMEM to 3.3V, EEDATA to Ground and left EECLK floating.

So my qustion is, do i need the EEPROM with VID and PID or is it possible to run this IC without EEPROM?

I have already build a PCB but it doesn't work and I don't know if the error is the missing EEPROM.

greets

Michael

EDIT:

Problem Solved

Stupid Mistake, forget the transistor and pull ups from 3.3V to DP

IC also runs perfectly without EEPROM, default VID and PID is implemented.

TUSB3410 without EEPROM

I would like to know how interface a MSP430 with a PC through a TUSB3410 without using an EEPROM.
We have designed an USB to RS485 bridge with VCP feature. We can send data but we can not able to manage to receive.

Whenever we send any data, data is reflecting on TUSB3410 receive pin. We thing there is aproblem on DTR control.

Schematic is controlled by local TI support engineer and there was no any error.

I2C Header Utility for VCP Applicaitons is used to generate .bin file with umpe3410.i51 sent by Dan Harmon for RS485.

EEPROM Burned Utiliy is used to download firmware. Then PC driver is used supplied by TI with swrc094d code.

When we plug the device to USB port a virtual com port is appears on device manager section, say COM7.

We can send data with a test program, but we can not receive. We can communite with the same test software and test device when we used an other USB converter.

Then I new PC driver sent by local TI support engineer and told us to modify .inf file by removing umpe3410.i51 instances. But it did not work.

1. Could you please supply us;

I am referring to section 2.5 Jumpers and Switches of Page 2-3 in Below user's guide

for TUSB3210 keyboard Evaluation board.

For this purpose we tried below 2 steps, to ensure board is
functioning properly,

1.
Default
setting functionality:

We tried to execute the firmware which by default
written in EEPROM and see

Whether the keypad works fine. But, did’nt see key
press on 3210EVM displayed

On hyperterminal.

  Below are setting we did,

·
Jumper setting:

U3:
  1-2 Speed sense always ON(Execute firmware from EEPROM).

U9:

keypad firmware from host PC into 3210EVM.

We downloaded the keypad
firmware source code for TUSB3210 EVM from

Our goal is to download this firmware into 3210EVM using a loading program. It
is mentioned

In the spreadsheet, that it is possible to download firmware from host PC into
3210EVM. But,

We don’t see any steps as how we can do that download?

We truly appreciate TI team to help us on this regard.

I can still order the TLC5940EVM-106 for $99 but apparently the required TUSB3210GENPDK interface is obsolete.

How does one use the 5940EVM these days? Is there a substitute EVM for the TUSB3210GENPDK?

Alternatively is there a faster generic USB 2.0 interface chip for driving GPIO? I would like more RAM

I've some trouble using a TUSB2046B on my board. I'm using the circuit shown in the datasheet of the TUSB2046B, figure 13 (self-powered hub, individual-port power management). Actually, I'm working with Windows XP SP3. After connecting the device, Windows searches for drivers and installs the "usbhub.sys" (Should be ok, in my opinion.), but then, another window pops up - "unknown device". The device manager indicates an error "code 41". I've already searched the web and there are a lot of problems using usb devices and this error code, the solution seems to be cleaning the registry, but I'm not sure.

Maybe another one already solved the problem.

Bye,

More information about it here: http://www.tusb3210.com

They use the driver apploader and eeprom burner from TI. It works
all fine under Windows XP, but now I would like to use it under Ubuntu.
Is there any driver apploader and eeprom burner for Linux? A lot of
thanks in advance!

-- Edit:

I'm now using the Open Source TUSB3210 bootloader from http://sourceforge.net/projects/tusb3210/
The bootloader compiles, but when I try to upload a BIN file it fails. I've the same problem as this person:

http://www.mail-archive.com/linux-usb-devel@lists.sourceforge.net/msg31408.html

Should this driver work or is there maybe an official TUSB3210 driver/apploader from TI?

-- Edit:

I'm sure that Ubuntu founds the TUSB3210 device. I've looked up the PID & VID with USB Viewer:

http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1100144/USBView.png

The VID 0451 & PID 2136 should correspond with the TUSB3210
device and they are also in the TUSB3210 program. Maybe there is
somebody who has this working?

-- Edit:

I found out that it fails at:

  if(usb_find_busses())
    die("Bus scan");

That's the reason of the error.. If I comment that lines then it says:

TUSB2316/3210 not found.
Error initializing USB

But that isn't helping me further. It looks like the USB device isn't initalizing correct, but I don't know why. :(

-- Edit: FINALLY IT WORKS :D :D :D :D

There were 2 lines in tusb.c who didn't where correct..

  if(usb_find_busses())
    die("Bus scan");
  if(usb_find_devices())
    die("Device scan");

I've changed them to:

  if(!usb_find_busses())
    die("Bus scan");
  if(!usb_find_devices())
    die("Device scan");

And now it works. :D I can upload .BIN files to my TUSB3210 devices. :D Whooohooooooooooo!

-- Edit: Installed sdcc-nf package from the apt tree and hex2bin from http://hex2bin.sourceforge.net and now I can write my programs for the TUSB3210 in Ubuntu, compile them and upload them!

msp430 and USB host for existing TUSB3410 device

I have an existing device A built with a TUSB3410 and an MSP430F148, speaking with a Windows PC through TI driver and virtual serial port, classical architecture. Now I want to replace the PC by a new device B based on an MSP430F248 and a USB host chip (maybe Vinculum from FTDI) to control the device A through USB. Of course I cannot modify the existing device A (already deployed 500 times).

Do you have any advice for the USB host chip ?

Would the Vinculum USB host chip handle the TUSB3410 USB slave ?

How can I emulate the UART serial port on device B ?

I download code from PC. Now my code can receive the first setup packet (get device description).

when I respond the "get device descrition", I can only send first 8 bytes to PC only. The standary packet has 18 bytes.

I write below code in setup interrupt, than I can enter the INT_INPUT_ENDPOINT0 one time.

During a review I noticed that the implementation wasn't quite in line with the datasheet terminal function specification. The Hub chip is equipped with a serial interface (EECLK/EEDATA) capable of reading Device ID etc, from an external EEPROM. Since we are not using this feature, the EXTMEM# pin is pulled high (deasserted).

The datasheet state that if EXTMEM# is high, the EECLK terminal is disabled and must be left floating (unconnected). In this design, however, this is not the case. We have erroneourly pulled the EECLK pin high through a 1KOhm resistor. The design is currently undergoing a revision where EECLK will be left floating.

I would, however, very much like to know, if pulling EECLK high will have any side-effects on the functionality of the TUSB2046BVF. We haven't so far observed any malfunction that we would expect to be associated with the USB Hub circuitry

TUSB2077 downstream power enable question

I would like to know exactly what the TUSB2077 checks

I enumerate the usb devices on the pc to pick
out a particular USB device w/ TUSB3410 driver package and succeed in retrieving that device's info and device path
which I later use when calling CreateFile(..) to open the communication with the
device. However, I am receiving a system error on executing CreateFile(..)
which is ERROR_NO_SYSTEM_RESOURCES. Any idea why this may be happening?
